Since Ezra stopped screaming and started talking in the van, all drives have been a hoot. He will either ask for whatever his favorite song is at the time (we've gone through Beautiful Things, Bushel and A Peck - the Doris Day version and Chalk Outlines by REN) and it will be listened to on repeat ("momma, please 1,000 times" or he will stim HARD.

Car stimming mostly looks like complete repetition while we drive. When he was first learning to count, he would count 1-1-2-2-3-3-4-4 ... etc. Then it was counting to two hundred and start over and do it again. Then ABC's sometimes in hyperdrive, other times super slow, but usually it is him telling everyone to sing with him and then will sing at various speeds and get upset when "we're doing it wrong". Tis fun.

The other is just saying the colors of the rainbow over and over again. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violent, red, orange, yellow, green, blue indigo, violent.

Most recently I have been able to break the habit a smidge and asked him if we can play the colors game and we still recite the colors of the rainbow, but while finding things (outside of the car only!) that are the color we are looking for. "Let's find something red. Now orange...etc". We have also played with letters, but that one is "not his favorite".

In a complete twist of Ezraness, he started asking me this week if I would fingerspell the ABC's in ASL while he says them. Great practice for me, but when he wants me to teach him the letters (that he already knows) while we're driving, it adds a whole new flair!

I genuinely love the uniqueness of all of my children and the wild lessons that this boy is teaching me all the time.
